The son of John and Cordelia Leslie he was married to Edith Lee in 1923 and was the father of Auxilier Roy Tucker. The Tuckers lived next door to the pre-war home of Devon Intelligence Officer Captain Edmundson.
As a younger man he worked on the railways so would have been aware of rail workings.
