The Motcombe Home Guard papers record a request for RA Roberts (on14th October 1941) to be transferred from the Motcombe platoon to Auxiliary Units. This confirms that he did not join the Patrol for at least 6 months after it was formed and was serving in the normal Home Guard in the meantime.
