17 year old Roy Budden was an apprentice boat builder in Northam, Southampton. He overheard an explosion and went to investigate. He was apprehended by the Patrol and as he had 'seen too much' he was made a Patrol member in September 1941. In later life he became a city councillor.
Roy was interviewed for the Secret Army TV Series.
IWM has a recording of an interview with Roy Budden but it is attributed to Roy Budden in Suffolk. As it is dated many years after his death it is assumed that it is actually Roy in Hampshire. If you can get access to this recording please let us know.
