Sam was always remembered as an Auxilier in Perranporth Patrol and in 1939 he is living in "St Mabyn" Perranporth . The nominal roll records his address as Carlidnack Lane, Mawnan Smith near Falmouth though this is written over a previously rubbed out address. He may have moved Patrols later in the war though this is not recorded.
