William Shand died as the result of an accident in August 1964 (Age 52)
When his house was cleared, paperwork relating to Auxiliary Units were found in the loft along with items from the war relating to his role in the Auxiliary Units.
A boy who was at School in the area, and released to assist on local farms, remembers Corporal Shand instructing him and another (Peter Thomson and Arthur Allan) to build a lookout on Fourman Hill.
