Biography

Born in Highgate, London to William and Ruby Bartholomew he married Betty Harding in 1941 in Watford.

He enlisted in the Royal Signals 7 Oct 1939 and was discharged 24 March 1946. His service record records he was 6 foot 1/2 inches tall with dark hair, brown eyes and a clear complexion.

After joining the Royal Signals and completing his basic training, by mid 1940 he was posted to the East Anglian coast, before being recruited to Auxiliary Units.

By Jan 1943 he was at Coleshill and had been promoted to Corporal.
