Gerald was the Area Commander of North Devon and also the Group Commander of Group 1, North Devon.

Gerald was promoted to Lieutenant 1st February 1941 and again to Captain 1st February 1942. He was once spotted coming out from under the bridge at Braunton and though questioned would never explain what he was doing.

His address is recorded as his work address at Nuttaberry Works, Bideford but he lived at 1 Littlabourne Terrace, Pilton (1939) then 5 Union Terrace, Barnstaple (1942).

He was the director of British Builders Distributers Ltd.

Gerald Slee, along with H.S Joyce (Tawstock Patrol) were both speakers on a BBC "Country Magazine" programme in 1948.

He was, at an earlier age, a captain of the local Ruby Club and was also a keen bowler.

His family had no knowledge of his involvement. He was the son of Walter and Florence Slee, he married Joan Stanbury in 1932.
