In 1941 John married Dorothy Eileen Peacock who was subsequently an ATS Operator. In the 1939 Register the couple were living together and she was recorded with his surname.
He was the nephew of Adrian Monck-Mason who was a Special Duties Civilian Operator.

By March he was in the Southwest undertaling the same role. He appears to have left Auxiliary Units by late 1943.
